Cognitive Problems in Ageing and Psychosis (CAP)
Psychosis is a term used to describe seeing or hearing things which other people cannot, or having fixed beliefs which others do not share. Older people with psychosis may be at higher risk of developing dementia. However, it is not clear which factors may be associated with this.
The CAP study will recruit people with late onset psychosis (ie a first episode of psychosis after the age of 60). Participants will have a blood sample taken and (optionally) brain imaging.
We aim to investigate which factors predict dementia or cognitive decline in people with late onset psychosis.
The study is being led by Dr Leigh Townsend
